MHO Community

At Mark Hinds Optometrists, we believe eye care is about more than vision correction. It is about supporting people, families and the wider community through clinical care, education, research and long-term commitment to better health outcomes.

As an independently owned Brisbane optometry practice, we are proud to care for patients across all stages of life — from children and families through to patients with complex eye disease. Our role in the community extends beyond the consulting room. We are actively involved in clinical research that aims to improve future treatment options for patients living with significant eye and systemic disease.

Through our work with Ophthalmic Trials Australia, our team contributes to research in areas including cancer-related eye disease, Sjögren’s disease, autoimmune disease, ocular surface disease, glaucoma, inherited retinal disease and keratoconus. Many of these conditions can have a profound impact on comfort, vision, independence and quality of life. By participating in carefully conducted clinical research, we aim to help bring emerging treatments and new knowledge to patients who need better options.

We are particularly passionate about conditions where there remains an unmet clinical need, including severe dry eye disease, ocular surface pain, keratoconus progression and complex inflammatory eye disease. Our patients and research participants play an important role in advancing medical understanding, not only for themselves, but for future patients in Brisbane, across Australia and internationally.

Mark Hinds Optometrists is proud to support local community care while contributing to global ophthalmic research. We remain committed to providing evidence-based, compassionate and personalised eye care, while helping shape the future of optometry and ophthalmology through innovation, education and research.
