Dr Luisa Holguin Colorado – OD

PhD, FAAO (Senior Research Fellow, Anterior Eye Laboratory, Centre for Vision and Eye Research)

Dr Colorado graduated with a five-year optometry degree in Colombia and worked as a clinical optometrist in ophthalmology clinical and surgical practices for two years before coming to Australia. This gave her years of clinical experience in the treatment of dry eye and ocular surface disease.

She embarked on a PhD in 2013 supervised by Emeritus Professor Nathan Efron AC.

She completed a research fellowship at the Contact Lens and Visual Optics Laboratory and The Anterior Eye Laboratory at the Queensland University of Technology, conducting research work for the contact lens industry, such as Johnson & Johnson Vision Care and CooperVision.

She is currently involved in numerous clinical trials as Principal Investigator, Sub-Investigator, Clinical Coordinator and Ethics consultant for Australian research sites undertaking trials with recognition in the ocular pharma space worldwide. She brings this wealth on knowledge and experience onboard to our clinical team at Ophthalmic Trials Australia and our dry eye team.

Dr Mark Hinds – Principal Optometrist

Mark is our principal optometrist and is one of Australia’s leading practitioners in the space of specialty contact lenses and dry eye disease. He leads Ophthalmic Trials Australia as the principal investigator and has many international publications and papers on his team’s work in pharmacological interventions for dry eye disease with and without autoimmune diseases. Mark and the team pool their clinical and research skills to present proven yet customized dry eye protocols for each patient.

Dr Ally Stevens – Clinical Optometrist

B.VisSci MOptom

Ally is our clinical optometrist and graduated with a Bachelor of Vision Science from QUT in 2021 followed by a Masters of Optometry in 2023. She has worked part time at Mark Hinds Optometrist since May 2022 and is a part of our Ophthalmic Trials Australia research team. Ally is has completed her training in E-Eye IRPL and is well versed in dry eye disease and its pathogenesis.
