Mark Hinds

Dr Hinds is one of Australia’s leading practitioners for specialty contact lens work. Dr Hinds works hard to ensure that Mark Hinds Optometrists are at the forefront of technology and innovation in our field.

Mark is a QUT graduate and lecturer and has completed the graduate certificate in ocular therapeutics. Additionally, in a former life, Dr Hinds is an Exercise Physiologist having completed an undergraduate degree in Human Movement Studies and a postgraduate Bachelor of Science Honours (Exercise Physiology) from UQ. In this space his focus and area of research was on triathletes and elite cyclists (Almost to the point where he thinks he is one). He has brought his research drive to lead up his newest venture of Ophthalmic Trials Australia where he is the Principal Investigator. If you have Dry Eye Disease, Chronic Ocular Surface Pain, Ocular Graft versus Hosts Disease, or any other ocular disease we recommend you talk to Dr Hinds about possible participation in an ophthalmic clinical trial.

Dr Hinds is a fellow of the British Contact Lens Association and a fellow of the International Association of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control. He is also a CASA credentialed optometrist.

Dr Ally Stevens

B.VisSci MOptom

Dr Stevens is one our Clinical optometrist who has graduated with a Bachelor of Vision Science from QUT in 2021, followed by a post graduate Masters of Optometry in 2023. Dr Stevens worked part time through her studies at Mark Hinds Optometrists since 2022, learning under Dr Hinds’ guidance. Dr Stevens has also taken on the role of Pharmacy in our Ophthalmic Trials Australia research team.

Dr Stevens is an accredited E-Eye IRPL practitioner and is well versed in Dry Eye Disease and its pathogenesis.

Dr Stevens has a clinical focus on paediatric Optometry, Dry Eye Disease, specialty contact lenses and general Optometry. Dr Stevens Plays a Key role in our Myopia Control Clinic and has extensive experience in fitting paediatric patients with ortho-K contact lenses.

Dr Kitson is another one of our Clinical optometrists, graduated with a Bachelor of Vision Science from QUT in 2023, followed by a post graduate Masters of Optometry in 2025. Through 2024-25, Dr Kitson worked part time at Mark Hinds Optometrists to establish herself into our team in the final years of her studies ready to hit the ground running. Dr Kitson has also taken on the role of Investigator as Dr Hinds’ backup in our Ophthalmic Trials Australia research team.
