At Mark Hinds Optometrists, we are continually investing in advanced technology and evidence-based treatments to help patients suffering from Dry Eye Disease.
As part of our dedicated Dry Eye Suite, we are pleased to offer two innovative in-clinic treatments:
- Rinsada
- ZEST
These treatments are designed to work alongside your existing dry eye management plan to help improve comfort, reduce inflammation, and support a healthier ocular surface.
Rinsada® — Ocular Surface Irrigation Therapy
Rinsada is an advanced ocular surface irrigation treatment designed to gently flush away inflammatory debris, allergens, biofilm, and irritants from the eyes and eyelids.
Using a specialised irrigating lid retractor system, sterile saline is carefully delivered beneath both the upper and lower eyelids — similar in concept to a sinus rinse, but specifically developed for the ocular surface.
The treatment aims to:
- Reduce inflammatory load on the eye surface
- Remove environmental irritants and debris
- Improve ocular surface comfort
- Complement existing dry eye therapies
- Support healthier tear film function
Although the device can initially appear intimidating, most patients are surprised by how comfortable and refreshing the treatment feels.
Importantly, Rinsada is typically used as an adjunctive therapy, meaning patients usually continue their normal dry eye medications and eye drops alongside treatment.
ZEST® — Deep Eyelid & Lash Cleansing
ZEST is an in-clinic deep cleansing treatment designed to clean and revitalise the eyelids and lashes.
The treatment focuses on removing:
- Oil, debris, and biofilm
- Bacteria and inflammatory build-up
- Demodex-related debris
- Residue around the lash line
During the procedure:
- A specialised ZEST gel is gently massaged onto the closed eyelids using soft applicators
- The cleansing gel foams to help lift debris and impurities from the lid margins and lashes
- The lids are then carefully cleaned and rinsed with a sterile saline solution
The treatment is generally very comfortable and leaves many patients feeling refreshed with cleaner, calmer eyelids.
For best results, we recommend attending your appointment without eye makeup where possible.
