A comprehensive eye examination does more than check your vision — it can reveal early signs of broader health conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure, sometimes before any other symptoms appear.

Every one of our optometrists holds therapeutic endorsement, which means we’re qualified to diagnose and treat eye infections and a range of other ocular conditions on site. Where specialist input is needed, we work hand in hand with ophthalmologists and your GP, so whatever the issue, your care is coordinated and complete. We’re committed to ongoing training and the latest clinical developments, ensuring you always benefit from current, evidence-based care.

We also invest heavily in advanced diagnostic technology, giving us the ability to manage even the most complex cases and find a solution tailored to each patient.

Just as important is choice. As a genuinely independent practice, we’re free to select the very best spectacles, sunglasses and contact lenses on their merit alone — with no allegiance to any buying group or franchise, and your interests always coming first.

Age Related Macular Degeneration eye exams

Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD) is the leading cause of vision loss in Australian’s over the age of 50. One in seven people in that age group show signs of macular degeneration. Our OCT takes a cross-section of you macula to assess areas of macular degeneration and is used to monitor these areas over time. It is important to complete scans and monitor regularly in case dry ARMD turns to wet ARMD. If there are areas of deterioration, we can refer you onto some of the best retinal specialists for further care.

One of our optometrists may have given you an Amsler Grid. If you notice any changes in your Amsler Grid please contact us ASAP.

Glaucoma eye exams

If you’re being assessed or monitored for glaucoma, we carry out a thorough evaluation of the health of your optic nerve. This includes an OCT scan and a fundus (retinal) photograph, giving us both a precise, measurable picture of your eyes and a detailed visual one.

Because our imaging and database system stores your results, we can compare them over time — across every visit you’ve had with us — so even subtle changes are easy to spot. This allows us to monitor any progression closely and co-manage your care alongside specialist ophthalmologists with confidence.

Diabetic eye exams

Diabetes can affect the delicate blood vessels at the back of the eye, so regular monitoring matters. During a diabetic eye exam, we dilate the pupil and capture a detailed image using our Digital Retinal Imaging (DRI) machine. We recommend this exam annually to catch any changes early, and we forward a full report to your GP and specialist so everyone involved in your care has a clear, up-to-date picture.

As mentioned, we work closely with some of Australia’s leading retinal specialist ophthalmologists, and can arrange onward referral or interim monitoring whenever it’s needed.

Premium technology, because your eyes deserve nothing less

We invest heavily in the latest optometric equipment so we can detect issues earlier, manage complex cases, and tailor care precisely to you:

Children’s vision assessment tools — a wide range of tests to detect anything that might hold back learning, helping ensure your child has the visual skills they need to thrive.

Precision vision testing — our Topcon suite (auto-refractor, auto-keratometer, auto-pachometer for corneal thickness and auto-tonometer) together with the CV-5000 computerised refractor delivers exceptional accuracy in measuring your prescription and eye health.

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) — using advanced REVO technology, our OCT reveals fine detail of the retina for the detection and management of ARMD and glaucoma. It also images the front of the eye, helping us fit mini-scleral, scleral and other rigid gas permeable lenses for patients with keratoconus, corneal grafts or irregular corneas. It even measures the length of the eye, which is key to monitoring myopia in children — because as short-sightedness increases, the eye physically lengthens. Tracking this tells us how well treatment is working. Managing children’s progressive myopia early gives them the best possible outcome for life; higher levels of myopia carry greater long-term eye-health risks, so where progression can be slowed, it should be.

Digital retinal imaging — high-definition Nikon 12MP cameras plus a high-resolution digital retinal scanner allow early detection and ongoing monitoring of retinal conditions.

Medmont corneal topographer — maps the surface of the cornea in fine detail, with digital contact lens simulation for complex eyes and specialty fittings, and can send images directly to the laboratory for custom lens manufacture.

Medmont visual field analyser — with a live video feed for accurate, reliable field testing and monitoring of conditions such as glaucoma, ARMD and other causes of field loss.

Oculus Keratograph 5 — for comprehensive dry eye assessment, including tear break-up time, meibography, tear meniscus height and fluorescein analysis, and more.

Extensive contact lens trial sets — in both soft and rigid gas permeable designs, so we can find the right fit on the day.
